Winnie Williams departed this life on Saturday, June 8, at the age of 59 years, 6 months, 23 days.
He was born in Memphis, on Nov. 16,1953, the son of the late Gordon and Betty Jo Robinson Williams. On Feb. 23, 1991, he was united in marriage to Lucretia Mooneyham, who survives.
Winnie was an outdoorsman, loved motorcycles and horseback riding. He also loved sports: baseball, basketball, and water-skiing. Winnie had been a towboat tankerman with the merchant marines and was leatherworker, he was known as “Leatherman.”
Winnie is survived by his wife, Lucretia Williams of Shiloh; sons. Dillon S. Williams of Shiloh, Tennessee and Brandon Newcomb of Corinth, Miss.; Two granddaughters; brother, Stan C. Williams of Sherman, Miss.
Services were held on Wednesday, June 12, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Dianne Gentry officiating. Burial will follow in the White Sulphur Cemetery at Pickwick Dam, Tennessee.
