Nancy McKnight Brown

Nancy McKnight Brown passed away on October 23, 2026, at the age of 90.
Born July 29, 1936, Nancy was the daughter of Stanford (J.S.) and Lucille Prince McKnight. She grew up in the Olivet community, attended school in Savannah, and later graduated from Draughn Business College in Memphis, Tennessee.
An accomplished seamstress, Nancy worked for many years in alterations at Goldsmith’s and Macy’s department stores.
As dementia gradually took away her memories, it never diminished her loving nature or joyful spirit. She greeted others with warmth and affection, rarely complained, and found happiness in life’s simplest pleasures, especially good food, fresh watermelon, carrot cake, popcorn and her deep love of fried catfish. Her caregivers at Spring Valley Hospice affectionately nicknamed her “Fancy Nancy,” a reflection of the special lady they had come to know and love.
Nancy’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She faithfully served as an elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Even as her memory faded, her faith remained. She could still recite Scripture alongside her hospice chaplain, a beautiful reminder of how deeply God’s Word was written upon her heart.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Pam Browning (Buddy), and son, Lance Brown (Michele); her sisters, Loretta Willoughby (Gene) and Helen Milam (Walker); her grandchildren, Courtney (Daniel), Krislyn, Corey, Michael (Sarah), Hannah, and Morgan (Brady); and her great-grandchildren, Hazel, June, and Lacy.
Nancy leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and a beautiful reminder that even when memories fade, the heart holds on to what matters most.
A memorial service celebrating Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Olivet Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 6095 TN-226, Savannah, Tennessee 38372.
