Wendy Leigh McCalla Lard was born on Dec. 17, 1962, in Memphis to the late John F. McCalla and Marie Evelyn Nabors Durbin.
She gave birth to her first of two daughters, Leighanne Chvila Holloway in 1982. Wendy moved to Savannah in 1986. She gave birth to her second daughter, Brittney Russell Murphy in 1989. Wendy was united in marriage to Roger Anthony Lard on July 11, 2008.
She worked various jobs including, The Brown Shoe Factory, Pinkhouse Playschool and Aqua Glass. Some of Wendy’s favorite pastimes included reading, word searches, but mostly she loved her dogs. She was a member of Living Word Fellowship Church.
Wendy went home to be with Jesus on Friday, March 2.
She is survived by her loving husband, Roger; two daughters, Leighanne (Clay) and Brittney (Ryan), all of Savannah; three stepdaughters, Tabitha Russell of Lexington, Nicole Lard and Amber Lard, both of Savannah; seven grandchildren, Calleigh, Lane, Trevor, Trenton, Tristan, Jada and Riley; one sister, Angela McCalla of Connecticut; one brother, Patrick Smith (Vicky) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; stepmother, Margie McCalla of Roswell, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, one stepson, John R. Russell, and her best friend, Sandy Alban Beuscher.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hardin County Cancer Association.
Celebration of Life was held Sunday, March 4, at 5 p.m., at Living Word Fellowship.
