Sue Oakley, of Saltillo, was born in Steele, Missouri on March 9, 1947, the daughter of the late Edgar Ray and Grace Elizabeth Snodgrass Blankenship.
On June 16, 1967, she was united in marriage to Harold Leon “Tad” Oakley, who preceded his wife in death on April 1, 1990.
Mrs. Oakley was a self employed hairdresser for 54 years. She was a resident of Hardin County for about 58 years and Nashville for 22 years. Mrs. Oakley was a former member of Saltillo First Baptist Church in Saltillo. After moving to Nashville, she became a member of Hickory Hollow Baptist Church in Antioch, Tennessee. Mrs. Oakley enjoyed all parts of life, especially cooking and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 22, in Nashville, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 13 days.
Mrs. Oakley is survived by her children, Dianne Sherrod and her fiancé Bill Mullens of Jackson, Tennessee, Darryl Oakley and his wife Barb of Nashville; three grandchildren, Brent Sherrod and his wife Jenna, Skyler Oakley and Grayson Oakley; five beautiful great-granddaughters; and one sister, Ann Vanhoose and her husband Jimmy of Saltillo.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Betty McCoy; and three brothers, Bud, Ray and Mike Blankenship.
Services were held on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 1:30 p.m., at Saltillo First Baptist Church in Saltillo with Tommy Crocker officiating. Burial followed in Lebanon Cemetery at Saltillo.
