At age 91, Sigel Tall passed from this life at his Hookers Bend residence on Saturday, Dec. 22. Born in Hardin County, on Aug. 28, 1921, son of James Tall and Charlotte Betty Luton Tall, he was the youngest of 13 children—all of whom preceded him in death.

Sigel was a member and trustee at New Zeal Missionary Baptist Church. Throughout his career, he worked as a foreman and supervisor building interstates and superhighways across the southeastern and northeastern parts of the United States, received his license as an electrician, plumber, and refrigeration technician, worked at the Hardin County Board of Education, and taught at the Savannah Building and Trade Vocational School. He finished his career at the Yellow Creek Nuclear Power Plant near Iuka, Miss.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Margie Evelyn (Holt) Tall, eight children, Ethylene Bailey of Nashville, Mary Grimes of Indianapolis, Ind., Larry Tall of Morris Chapel, David Tall of Selmer, Milton Tall of Morris Chapel, Felicia Jackson of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Vanessa Tall of Gambrills, Md., and Roshunda Tall of Nashville. He also leaves nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service was held on Saturday, Dec. 29, at the Selmer Mortuary Funeral Home in Selmer, with interment at the Tall Family Cemetery.
