Sharon Jean Johnson Benson, 63, of Walnut Grove community of Savannah, died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Jackson, Tennessee.

She was born in Savannah,  the daughter of the late Tommy Lewis and Doris Faye Hindman Johnson. She was united in marriage to Billy Ray Benson, who survives.

Mrs. Benson worked as a supervisor at various garment factories in the area, moving to Quinco when all of them closed.  Her last job, the one from which she retired, was as a receptionist with Prime Care in Adamsville.

Although a member of First United Methodist Church in Savannah, she had been unable to attend for several years due to her responsibilities as her husband’s caregiver.

In addition to her husband, Billy Ray, she is survived by one sister, Julia Ann Johnson of Savannah.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Derenda Jo Johnson and Tommie Jaleen Johnson.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Thad Calton and Julia Johnson officiating.
