Sammie Copeland

Sammie Jack Copeland, 76, of Savannah, died Sunday, June 3.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Samuel and Daisy Allison Copeland. He was united in marriage to Patricia Lynn Smith Copeland, who survives.

Mr. Copeland served time in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1963. He retired from Hardin County Hospital where he worked as an orderly. He also worked at Pickwick Landing State Park.

Services were held on Wednesday, June 6, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Scott Melson officiating. Burial followed in the Savannah Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Copeland; five sons, James of Michigan, Jerry of Clifton, Jeff and Joey, both of Arlington, Tenn., and John Copeland of Lafayette, La.; two stepdaughters, Patty Stapleton of Michie and Lisa Lambert of Corinth, Miss.; one stepson, Greg Lambert of Morris Chapel; one brother, Bobby Copeland of Savannah; nine grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Louise Copeland; and one grandchild.
