Ruth Cunningham Ruth Cunningham, 92, of Hardin County, died Saturday, Jan. 8. She was born in McNairy County, the daughter of the late Hugh and Reamer Nickels Marler. She was united in marriage to William Rufus Cunningham, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Cunningham was owner and operator with her husband of Pickwick Motel and Restaurant. She also was a school teacher for Acton School in Acton, Tenn. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Counce. Services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Ray Newcomb officiating. Burial was in the White Sulphur Cemetery at Pickwick Dam. She is survived by one son, Dwayne Cunningham of Savannah; one daughter, Patricia Pettigrew of Pickwick Dam; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one sister, Rachel Moore of Selmer. She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Asbell and Imogene Taylor; and one brother, John H. Marler.
