R.C. Highland

R.C. Highland, 88, of Hardin County, died Thursday, Jan. 6, in Savannah.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Jeptha Askew and Susie Fox Highland.

Mr. Highland was a retired school bus driver for Hardin County Schools. He was also a self-employed logger. He was a member of the State Line Church of Christ.

Services were held on Saturday, Jan. 8, at Walnut Grove Church of Christ in Savannah with David Highland officiating. Burial followed in the Hollands Creek Cemetery at Hardin County, Tennessee.

Mr. Highland is survived by three daughters, Joyce Golomski of Savannah, Treasa Petty of Savannah and Sandra Perry of Mishawaka, Ind.; three sons, J.C. of Mishawaka, Ind., Denny of Savannah and Greg Highland of Moulton, Ala.; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Polly Benson of Savannah.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lillie Dee Benson Highland; two sons, Larry Wayne Highland and David Earl Smith; four sisters, Artie Benson, Agnes Benson, Oma Jean Austin, and Lola Burcham; and a stepbrother, Jones Gibbs.
