Ovid Cossey, of Savannah, departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 25, at the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 23 days.
He was born in Hardin County on Jan. 2, 1937, the son of the late Zella Mae Cossey. On July 27, 1965, he was united in marriage to Ann Shands, who preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 2018.
Ovid worked for LTV Steel for 30 years and worked in the quality control department. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America and the Masonic Lodge. He loved hunting, taking Sunday afternoon drives, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Saum and husband Keith of Chewalla, Tennessee, Randy Cossey and wife Karla, and Daryl Cossey, all of Savannah; and grandchildren, Connor Saum, Grant Saum and wife Clare, Parker Saum, Blake Cossey and Brooke Cossey.
Services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Jimmy McGee officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
