Nora Plunk
Nora Mae Hornbuckle Plunk was born May 7, 1922 in Bethel Springs, Tenn., the daughter of the late Harry Lee and Mandy Elizabeth Williams Hornbuckle.
She was united in marriage to James L. Plunk on Oct. 12, 1957. Mr. Plunk preceded her in death on July 14, 1987, following 29 years of marriage.
Mrs. Plunk was formerly employed by Harwood Manufacturing and Garan in Adamsville and was a loving homemaker for her family.
Mrs. Plunk was a faithful Christian and member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She was not ashamed to let others see her faith. She loved to sew and make crafts, and enjoyed cooking for and feeding her family and friends. She enjoyed working in her garden and her flower beds. She especially loved tending her rose bushes. Mrs. Plunk was very proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She always had a smile and a kind word to share with everyone and would help anyone she could.
Mrs. Plunk departed this life on Monday, Feb. 11, in Adamsville, at the age of 90 years, 9 months, 4 days.
She is survived by a daughter, June La Fran Plunk of Selmer; a son, Jeffrey Allen Plunk and wife Pam of Savannah; two grandchildren, Christopher Plunk and wife Tisha of Savannah and Michael Plunk and wife Cherye of Pickwick Dam; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Plunk, Chloe Plunk, Cade Plunk and Macy Plunk; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Plunk was preceded in death by a son, James Eddie Plunk.
Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville with Ricky Sisk officiating. Burial followed in the Mars Hill Cemetery at Adamsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
