Nellie Carroll

Nellie P. Benson Carroll, 84, of Savannah, departed this life on Friday, January 23, the daughter of the late George Richard and Mamie Austin Benson.
Nellie was united in marriage to Clovis Carroll, who preceded his wife in death.
Nellie was a well known housekeeper, her home was always spotless. She worked in the housekeeping department at Hardin Medical Center and Hardin County Nursing Home. Nellie also managed the pool hall in Savannah. She was of the Church of Christ belief.
She is survived by her children, Myra Willoughby, and Mickey Wilkerson ; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Josie Short; and brother, Jimmy Benson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nellie was preceded in death by four sisters, Stella Tilley, Dorothy Highland, Dossie (Red) Cossey, and Losie (Black) Stewart; and four brothers, Lowell Benson, Carmel Benson, Donald Benson, and Bobby Benson.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, January 31, at the Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Savannah, with David Highland officiating.
