Mike Horton, 73, of Counce, departed this life on Friday, March 6, the son of the late Leonard Verdell and Hazel Baggett Horton.
Mr. Horton honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He later worked for Kimberly Clark as a maintenance planner. Mike was an avid hunter and loved being outdoors. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved Shirley; sons, Joseph Michael Horton and Joshua Lee Horton; daughter, Samantha Caroline Horton; brothers, Phil Horton and James Horton; sister, Debbie Hudson; six grandchildren; and the mother of his oldest son, Joseph, Judy O. Miller.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by the mother of Joshua and Samantha, Brenda Savelle.
