Mary Patricia Churchill

Mary Patricia Churchill, 92, of Saltillo, died Saturday, June 11, in her home from Alzheimer’s Disease.

She was born, Jan. 24, 1919, in Utica, N.Y., to the late Frederick Charles Vogel and Mary (Mae) Agnes Vogel. She married James Eugene Churchill Nov. 1, 1944 and again on Nov. 11, 1944.

Mom was a child of the Depression era. She left high school to help support her family. Later in life she earned her GED and graduated from Cazenovia College with a degree in Early Childhood Development. Never one to sit idle, Mom was partners with our father in J&P Construction Inc. Building three houses in Cazenovia, they also built our home in East Greenbush, N.Y.

For Mom gardening was always a source of enjoyment. At one point she had a retail plant store in Cazenovia, N.Y. Other joys were having picnic suppers on the family motorboat, yearly camping trips, with one a month long to Mexico with all seven children. She was an active member of the Cazenovia PTA, acting as President for many years. Later in life she enjoyed following the Stock Market.

Survivors include three daughters, Caren Ann, Lisa Marie, and Laura Ann; three sons, Douglas Eugene, Richard Eugene, and John Eugene; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, a sister, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a miscarried daughter twin to Laura; followed by her husband James Eugene; a son James Eugene Jr.; and a great-grandson.
