Martha Nell Phillips, of Shiloh, was born in Ramer, on Aug. 1, 1928, the daughter of the late Horace and Roxie Robertson Chandler.
On June 18, 1951, she was united in marriage to Allen Brown Phillips, who preceded his wife in death on Aug. 15, 2015.
Mrs. Phillips worked for Brown Shoe Company in Selmer until she and her husband opened their own business, Shiloh Souvenir Shop. She was a member of Shiloh Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer.
Mrs. Phillips loved to garden, grow flowers, travel, collect glass work, cook, can and make jellies. She also loved to crochet and quilt, and she was a member of Shiloh Quilters.
Mrs. Phillips departed this life on Monday, Jan. 8, in Iuka, Mississippi, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 7 days.
She is survived by her son, Joseph Allen Phillips and his wife Nila of Shiloh; two grandchildren, Justin Bradley Phillips and Kristina Phillips Franks, both of Savannah; four great-grandchildren, Gavin Phillips, Grayson Phillips, Jackson Franks and Kingston Franks, all of Savannah.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Ed Chandler; and one sister, Georgia White.
Services were held on Friday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Joey Franks and C.D. Rickman officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery at Shiloh.
