Marshall Gambrell (5-10-14) service 5-14-14

Marshall Thomas Gambrell, 77, of Lawrenceburg, was born Sept. 10, 1936, in the Holly Creek Community of Wayne County near Iron City, the son of the late Marshall "Chick" Gambrell and Willadean Andrews Gambrell. He died at his home in Lawrenceburg Saturday, May 10.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brittney Kimbrell Gambrell, three brothers and a sister.

For more than 30 years Marshall was the owner-operator of Gambrell Hickory Mill in Chesterfield. He also served as constable in Chesterfield and was a law officer in Henderson and Perry counties. Presently he was retired from Corrections Corporation of America in Clifton. He was a dedicated servant of the Lord. As a trustworthy, loyal, and staunch Christian he preached God’s word and ministered to people through his music as long as his health permitted. He was formerly minister at Full Gospel Church on Old Town Road in Savannah.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Jackson Gambrell; sons, Jeff (Lisa) Gambrell, Wesley (Melissa) Gambrell and Joel Gambrell; daughters, Karen (Bobby) Powell and Renae (Tim) Akin; grandchildren, Cherie Ann Gambrell Weaver, Jeffery Keith Gambrell, Matthew Kent Gambrell, Jodie Ann Gambrell, Carlton Dewayne Stamps, Nathan Lynn Gambrell Kimbrell, Darryl Andrew Stamps, William Cody Stamps, Joel Tyler Gambrell, Cameron Ryan Powell, Colt Ace Akin, Austin Cash Akin and Hannah Renae Gambrell; great-grandchildren, Adreanna Grace Gambrell, Payton Tyler Kent Gambrell, Jeffery Keith Paul Gambrell, Alexis Daneille Renee Gambrell, Krysten Michele Weaver, Marshall Tommy Gambrell, Jerry H. Weaver, Joel Luke Tate and Clayton Tyler Stamps; sisters, Evelene (Edward) Stooksberry, Shelby (Zolly) Church and Doris May and nieces and nephews.

Services were held Wednesday, May 14, at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors Chapel in Waynesboro with Ron Carlson officiating. Burial followed at Clifton Cemetery with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

 

 

 

Pallbearers were his grandsons and grandsons’ in-law.
