L.C. Hampton L.C. Hampton was born on Dec. 3, 1934, in Savannah, to the late Charles and Nola Pitts Hampton. He was retired from Centurytel (formerly Adamsville Telepnone Company) and was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Adamsville First Baptist Church and loved singing gospel music, having sung with the "Crusaders" and "Waymakers" quartets. L.C. departed this life on Friday, Feb. 19, at his home at the age of 75 years, 2 months, and 16 days. Survivors are his wife Mary Finney Hampton of Adamsville; a sister, Alene Newland of Mobile, Ala.; two nieces, Linda Rossmaier of Mobile and Renee McAdams of Savannah; four nephews, Larry Vickery of Mobile, Charles Vickery of Pickwick Dam, Johnny Winningham of Tyler, Texas and Rickey Winningham of Adamsville, 7 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews, 4 great-great-nieces and 5 great-great nephews and a host of other relative and friends. Other than his parents, L.C. was also preceded in death by a niece Jan Osborne. Services were Sunday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville with Phil Mitchell and James Shutt officiating. Interment was at Adamsville Cemetery.
