J.W. Hurt J.W. Hurt was born in Wayne County, on July 7, 1927, the son of the late Bill and Hester Franks Hurt. On Nov. 12, 1950, he was united in marriage to Nannie Sue Bryant, who survives. Mr. Hurt was self-employed as a logger and a farmer. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church when he was younger. Mr. Hurt departed this life on Friday, Jan. 13, at the age of 84 years, 6 months, 6 days. He is survived by his wife, Nannie Sue Hurt of Savannah; two daughters, Shirley Kay Barron and husband Dan, Linda Sue White and husband Randy, all of Savannah; four sons, Jerry William Hurt and wife Nancy, Charles Earl Hurt and wife Ann, Billy Garland Hurt and wife Connie, David Allan Hurt and wife Stephanie, all of Savannah; 13 grandchildren, Brent, Holly, Jennifer, Sarah, Abby, Molly, Jacob, Micah, Christina, Elizabeth, William, Alex and Caitie; a great-grandchild, Brady. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Glen, Dee, and Willie Hurt. Services were held on Monday, Jan. 16, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Johnny Wilson, Tony Polk officiating. Burial followed in the New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery at Hardin County.
