Judy Charlene Blakney

Judy Charlene Blakney was born in Hardin County on July 24, 1935, the daughter of the late James Cecil and Rebie Deivy Curtis Wood.

On July 6, 1952, she was united in marriage to Vernon Edward Blakney of Michie, who survives.

Mrs. Blakney was the owner and operator of Southside Ceramics Shop. She had previously worked for Wurlitzer in Corinth, Miss. and Genesco Shoe Company in Iuka, Miss. She loved company, visiting the Smoky Mountains, loved quilting, and fish-frys with her family. Enjoyed canning food, vegetables for her family. She loved to play practical jokes and was a very happy person. Mrs. Blakney was a member of the Center Hill Baptist Church and attended Childers Hill Pentecostal Church.

Mrs. Blakney departed this life on Monday, April 25, at the age of 75 years, 9 months, 1 day.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, James Ronnie Blakney and wife Dee of Arlington, Tenn., Donnie Edward Blakney and Carolyn of Bruton Branch, Johnny Aaron Blakney of Stantonville, Tenn., Ritchie Dale Blakney and wife Crystal of Michie; a daughter, Sylvia Dianne Cooper and husband J.C. of Michie; two sisters, Cathy Murphy of Corinth and Carolyn Hill of Stantonville; a brother, Jimmy Wood of Michie; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 on the way.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Turner and Ama Lois Lumenick; a great grandchild, Taylor Hardy.

Services were held on Wednesday, April 27, at 3 p.m., at Childers Hill Pentecostal Church in Counce with Pat Terry officiating. Burial was in the White Sulphur Cemetery at Pickwick Dam.
