Juanita Mae Dickey McCormick, 78, of Savannah, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, in Jackson, Tennessee. She was born in Savannah on Dec. 1, 1945.
Mrs. McCormick was a homemaker and a member of Crossroads Union Church. Her favorite past times were reading and watching her game shows.
Juanita is survived by her daughters, Betty McCormick Franks (David M.) and Nora J. Melson (Richard); 11 grandchildren, Daniel Murphy (Valessa), Jessica Murphy, Amber Melson (Michael), Chevy Melson (Grace), Trystan Counce, Ariel Melson, Zion Franks, Zeke Franks, Cora Franks and Jenna Moon; 12 great-grandchildren, Curtis Matlock, Tessa Matlock, Colt Matlock, C. J. Melson, Lacie Melson, Waylon Melson, Slate Griffin, A. J. Murphy, Emmaline Holley, Wesley Murphy, Joshua Murphy and Stella Murphy; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Arthur V. McCormick; daughter, Brigette Murphy Cossey; father, Wareka Ray Dickey; mother, Ocie Louella Umphery Dickey; brother, Charley Dickey; sisters, Ada Sowell (Clyde), Virginia Melson, Magdalene Dickey and Paulette Dickey.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Crossroads Union Church with interment in the church cemetery. Tim Keen officiated and pallbearers were Zion Franks, Zeke Franks, Chevy Melson, Michael Matlock, C. J. Melson, Daniel Murphy, Mike Melson and Keith Cherry.
