Johnnie Frank Dickerson, 70, of Iuka, Miss., died Wednesday, July 24, at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Miss. Â
He was of the Church of Christ faith, and was a retired Senior Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force. While he was in the Air Force, he was a recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Stars and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.Â
After his retirement, he worked for the U. S. Postal Service. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and going to the horse track. He also enjoyed telling jokes, finding great places to eat, and working crossword puzzles.Â
Visitation was scheduled for 5 p.m.until 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, Miss. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, at Liberty Church of Christ in Michie, Tenn. It was officiated by Malcolm George. The body laid in state 30 minutes prior to service time. Interment  followed in Liberty Cemetery.Â
Pallbearers include Jake Whitehurst, Sidney Whitehurst Jr., Ronnie Mills, Harold Monjeau, Charlie Moore, and Lee Finonson. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, Miss., was entrusted with arrangements.Â
He is survived by his sister, Jo Ann Dickerson of Nashville; two nephews, Stanley Whitehurst (Janet) of Killen, Ala., and Sidney Whitehurst Sr. (Terrie) of Iuka, Miss.; one niece, Â Jada Ann Arkovitz of Nashville; and several great nieces and nephews. Â
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vera and Wade Dickerson; his brother, Robert Oneal Dickerson; and his sister, Virginia Whitehurst. An online guestbook can be accessed at www.cutshallfuneralhome.com.
