John Cletus Wilkerson of Adamsville departed this life on Monday, June 17, at the age of 69 years, 2 months, 20 days.
He was born in Savannah, on March 28, 1944, the son of the late Con and Edna Tidwell Wilkerson.Â
John retired from Tenaris Steel Mill in Counce as a mill wright and was a member of the Steel Workers Union. He loved playing golf, pool, riding horses, fishing and playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing guitar and harmonica and had a beautiful singing voice.
He is survived by his beloved companion, Glenda Cardwell; children, Patty Starr Terry and companion Randall of Iron City, Tenn., Brian Keith Wilkerson and wife Lara of Savannah, Lisa Ann Fasking and husband Joey of Savannah; grandchildren, Matt Terry and wife Jessica, Brooke Gray and husband Clint, Brandy Wilkerson, Shannon Burch and Audrey Wilkerson; great grandchildren, Elijah Riley Gray and Hunter Gabriel Terry; sisters, Connie Mae Cole and husband John G. of Savannah, Artie Marie Gaia and husband Leo of Olive Branch, Miss., Wanda Gale Coln of Stantonville, Tenn.; brothers, James William Wilkerson and wife Lorene, Danny Joe Wilkerson and wife Patty, all of Savannah.
He is also survived by his loyal dog, Derby; numerous nieces and nephews from Tennessee to Florida.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by sisters, Hester Geraldine Wilkerson, Edna Yvonne Wilkerson, and Shirley Kate Raines; brothers, Roy Cecil Wilkerson and Gary Wayne “Duke” Wilkerson.
Services were held on Wednesday, June 19, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Gene Hanna officiating. Burial followed in the Milledgeville Cemetery at Milledgeville, Tenn.
