John Brown (8-30-13) service 9-2-13

John D. Brown, 82, of Savannah, died on Friday, Aug. 30. He was born in Wayne County, the son of the late John Henry and Oma Elizabeth Sherrill Brown. He was united in marriage to Betty Lou Bratcher, who survives.

Mr. Brown worked at Parris Manufacturing and Bell South. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church.

Services were held on Monday, Sept. 2, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Chad Balentine officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Hebron Cemetery at Wayne County.

In addition to his wife, Betty Lou Bratcher of Savannah, he is survived by his children, Carolyn Bratton of Savannah, Brenda G. Cummings of Crump, John H. Brown of Savannah, David Dewayne Brown of Adamsville, Charlotte McClain and Donald Glen Brown, both of Savannah, Ronald Lynn Brown of Hornsby, Tenn., Shelly Stricklin, and Kelly Dockery both of Savannah; and 14 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Will, Benton, Pete, Fred, and Taylor Brown; sisters, Mary Melson, Kat Morgan, Pearl Beckham, Alta Mae Moore, Jewel Helton, and 3 infant sisters.
