Joe Wilkins (1-19-22) service 1-22-22

Joe Wilkins, 72, of Crump, died on Wednesday, Jan. 19, in Jackson, Tennessee.

He was born in Dallas, Texas, the son of the late Raymond Andrew Wilkins and Ima Jo Betts Varnell. He was united in marriage to Wanda Pearl Blanton, who preceded him in death.

Before working for FedEx in his later years, Mr. Wilkins owned and operated Joe’s Family Haircare & Visible Changes for 40 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jo Pugh of Cullman, Alabama; son, John Wayne Wilkins of Nashville; brother, Donny Varnell of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve Byrd and Billy Byrd; and a grandchild.

Services were held on Saturday, Jan. 22, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Gene Hanna officiating. Burial followed in Crump Cemetery.
