Joe Pitts Joe A. Pitts was born in Waynesboro, Tenn., on June 23, 1949, the son of the late Joe and Marguerite Bastin Pitts. On March 25, 1973, he was united in marriage to Joy Moore, who survives. Mr. Pitts retired after 24 years from PCA as an electrician. He was a 40 year member of the IBEW, member of Highland Church of Christ, Savannah Masonic Lodge 102 and Shriner. Mr. Pitts attended Pickwick United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf, reading Louis L’Amour books, watching the Tennessee Volunteers and old western movies. Mr. Pitts departed this life on Sunday, July 31, in Savannah, at the age of 62 years, 1 month and 8 days. In addition to his wife, Joy of Counce, he is survived by one daughter, Jane Anna Cummings and her husband Jeff of Savannah; and one son, Jason Pitts and his wife Leanne of Iuka, Miss.; four grandchildren, Carson Cummings, Ryder Cummings, Justin Wadkins and Braylon Pitts; one sister, Sandy Martin and her husband Chester of Waynesboro; one brother, John Pitts and his wife Sandra of Waynesboro; his sister-in-law, Anita Britt and her husband Clay of Greenville, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Pitts. Services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 3 p.m., at Pickwick United Methodist Church in Counce with Keith Wright officiating. Burial followed in the Harder Cemetery at Linden, Tenn.
