Joe Morgan, 74, of Shiloh, passed away on Tuesday, July 19. He was born in McNairy County, on May 23, 1948, the son of the late Arthur and Jewell Fowler Morgan. He was a member of Liberty Church of Christ. Throughout his life, Joe had worked many jobs; timber cutter, pipeline worker, Shiloh Foods making hushpuppies and Kilburn’s Chrome Plating. He had to stop working in 1997, due to small cell lung cancer. He survived the cancer but was unable to go back to work. He never worried when he had cancer. Joe would say, “If it was meant for him to make it, he would,” and he did.

He always had a funny wise remark for anything, anywhere and at any time. Joe always said, “You have to find the funny things, if not you couldn’t stand and just be sad.” He made sure the birds and squirrels had food and enjoyed watching them eat and play. Joe loved funny programs on TV and watching older cartoons.

Joe is survived by his brother, Eugene Morgan of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee; and a sister, Jenny Martin of Shiloh.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, William Morgan, Wilburn Morgan and Wilford Morgan; and sisters, Reba Doris Morgan, Loraine “Rinner” Collier and Christine Thacker.

Services were held on Saturday, July 23, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah, with Jeff Harville officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery in Michie.
