Joe Brewer Joe Brewer, 65, of Savannah, died Tuesday, May 8. He was born in Savannah, the son of the late Joe Neal and Allie Earlene Gatlin Brewer. Mr. Brewer was a veteran of the US Army, serving from November 1965 to November 1968. He was ranked a specialist and was a motor pool mechanic. He continued on with his mechanic work after the Army until he retired. He had also worked at Qualls Sawmill, Rose Handle Mill, and Detroit Diesel. Services were held on Saturday, May 12, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Mark Hatley officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Cemetery at Savannah. He is survived by two sons, Bobby and Adam Brewer, both of Savannah; a daughter, Audra Walters of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Mitchell of Savannah; a brother, Larry Brewer of Savannah; and a nephew who was raised with him as a brother, Jeff Brewer of Selmer. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Max Brewer; three sisters, Barbara White, Mary Shagena and Jackie Rich.
