Joanie Love

Joanie Kelley Love was born in Hardin County, on April 26, 1933, the daughter of the late Jake and Daisy Hatley Kelley.

On Sept. 11, 1958, she was united in marriage to B. Raymond Love, who preceded his wife in death on Oct. 18, 2005.

Mrs. Love was a button cutter for Savannah Button Factory. She and her husband Raymond ran Love’s Cafe in Crump for 40 plus years. Mrs. Love was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church in Savannah. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved knitting and crocheting.

Mrs. Love departed this life on Saturday, March 3, in Corinth, Miss., at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 6 days.

She is survived by three daughters, Melody Turner and husband Alan of North Carolina, Sonya Gaye Love DeForge and husband Mike of Adamsville and April Sharon Howard and husband Jonathan of Savannah; one son, Raymond Carrol Love and wife Frances of Decatur, Ala.; six grandchildren, Sara Turner, Katie Love, Emily Love, Ryleigh DeForge, Matthew DeForge and Jimmy Wayne Howard II; two sisters, Daisy Plunk of Adamsville and Katie Young of Pontotoc, Miss.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Love was also preceded in death by four sisters, Betty DeShazier, Onie Kenney, Marie Shelby and Essie Mullins; and three brothers, Jakie, George and Hugh Kelley.

Services were held on Tuesday, March 6, at 4 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with John Johnston officiating. Burial followed in the Savannah Cemetery at Savannah.
