Jo Ann Young Blanton, 74, of Adamsville, departed this life on Sunday, July 13, in Jackson, Tennessee. She was born on July 30, 1950, in McNairy County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late James Cornelius and Nina Inez Nash Young. On August 31, 1969, she was united in marriage to Thomas Dale Blanton, who survives. Jo Ann was a hairdresser for many years and an accomplished artist. She loved her home and enjoyed decorating. She also loved her yard and liked to plant flowers. She enjoyed going on trips with her family. She was an amazing cook and baker and loved to entertain at her home. Throughout her life, Jo Ann clung to her faith. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Blanton; daughters, Ronnica Dawn Ricketts (David), Mary Ann Glidewell (Michael), and Shellie Margaret DeLaney (Jonathan); brother, Thomas Richard Young; sisters, Dorothy May Amerson and Marylon Elain Brock; and grandchildren, Mitchell Ricketts, Ridge Ricketts, Michaela Glidewell, Eli Glidewell, Waylon Glidewell, and Wyattleigh DeLaney. In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Neal Young; sisters, Mary Lou Young, Ruby Fay Robbins, and Betty Katherine Smith; and grandparents, Mary Tedford and William Young and Lula Roxana and Sylvester Nash. She was also preceded in death by her aunt and best friend, Margaret Patton. Memorial services will be held today, Thursday, July 17, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah, Tennessee, with Randy Latch officiating. Burial will follow in the Ledbetter Cemetery in Adamsville, Tennessee.
