Jim Lawson Jim Lawson was born in Kent County, Mich., on June 16, 1940, the son of the late Virgil R. and Sylvia Geneva Robinson Lawson. On March 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Marie Iosue, who survives. Mr. Lawson served in the United States Navy for 10 years, where he was a Vietnam War Veteran. He retired from the United States Air Force and retired as a Civil Service employee. Mr. Lawson was a member of Our Lady Of The Lake Catholic Church in Counce. Mr. Lawson lived in the Hardin County area for six years. He enjoyed woodworking, cross word puzzles, web surfing and working with computers. Mr. Lawson departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 3, in Counce, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 18 days. In addition to his wife, Marie of Counce, he is survived by three sons, Mike A. Lawson of Folsom, Calif., Troy A. Lawson of Grand Rapids, Mich. and James A. Lawson of Minot A.F.B., N.D.; five grandchildren, James A. Lawson II of Minot A.F.B., N.D., Lauren Pitman, Erin Lawson, Jacob Pitman and Joseph Lawson, all of Folsom, Calif.; one sister, Darlene Lawson of Niles, Mich.; one brother, Philip Lawson of Niles, Mich. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Counce with Father Anthony Azuwike officiating.
