Jim Foster
James Charles "Jim" Foster, 63, of Union City, Tenn., died at the home of his daughter, Heather Harrison of Union City, on Sunday, Dec. 23.
He was born in Savannah, son of the late J.W. and Martha Grace Sibert Foster. He married the former Linda K. Gardner, who survives.
Services were Saturday, Dec. 29, at Gardner United Methodist Church in Weakley County with the Rev. Franklin Gardner officiating. Burial followed in Gardner Community Cemetery. Arrangements by White-Ranson Funeral Home.
Mr. Foster was a retired employee of the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where he worked for 34 years and was a member of Gardner United Methodist Church, where he had been a member of the board of trustees and had served on several committees. He was a member of Obion County Rescue Squad for 34 years and was a unit director for 17 years. He was also Region 4 secretary for 14 years. An instructor for emergency vehicle drivers for many years, he was named Officer of the Year in 1995 and in 2011. He was also a first responder for three years and was a member of the former Union City Lions Club for 17 years until it disbanded, as well as of the Savannah Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Foster; his daughter, Heather Dawn Harrison of Union City; a granddaughter; a step-granddaughter; his sister, Sharon Hughes of Lexington.
