Jerry N. Hensley departed this life Thursday, March 13, at the age of 72 years, 9 months, 5 days.
Jerry was born in Hardin County, June 8, 1941, the son of the late James Lester and Maude Ann Orr Hensley. On Nov. 7, 1966, he was united in marriage to Doyce Ann Johnson, who survives.
He was a member of Tennessee Young Republican Federation and Love & Truth Church in Savannah.
Throughout his lifetime, Jerry Hensley was an entrepreneur of sorts and jack of all trades; working in the Henderson County School System to building his own ambulance service, as well as years of practice as funeral director in Decatur County and law enforcement in Sardis. Above all of these, he took the most pride in working as a foreman doing road construction toward the end of his career. There is no doubt that, while serving the community, Jerry encountered and impacted numerous lives.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doyce Ann Hensley of Savannah; daughter, Tammie Webb Alexander and husband Chris C. of Savannah; grandchildren, Trista Noelle Young and husband Brandon, Todd Alexander and wife Lindsey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twin brothers and brother, Harold Gean Hensley.
Services were held Saturday, March 15, at 3 p.m. at Love & Truth Church in Savannah with Philip Meek officiating. Burial followed at Morris Chapel Cemetery in Morris Chapel.
