Jan Majors Hoover departed this life on Monday, Aug. 19, at the age of 59 years, 10 days.
She was born in Hardin County, on Aug. 9, 1954, the daughter of Jean Teas Majors and the late Jarvis Burke Majors. On July 2, 1983, she was united in marriage to James Allen Hoover, who survives.
Jan had lived in Hardin County until 1977, when she moved to Baytown, Texas. She was a member of the Cedar Bayou Methodist Church, Red Stocking Review, and the Baytown Junior Forum. She enjoyed cooking, Mary Kay cosmetics, shopping, needlework, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Allen Hoover of Baytown, Texas; son, Tony Gilchrist and wife Michelle of LaPorte, Texas; grandson, William Anthony Gilchrist; mother, Jean Majors of Savannah,; sisters, Jeanette Hardin and husband Joe of Baytown, Texas, Judy Martin and Jeana Grace both of Savannah; and brother, Jon Majors and wife Barbara of Counce.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Matt Hoover and brother, Joel Buddy Majors.
Services were held on Thursday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m. at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Marvin Norris officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery at Hardin County.
