Jamie Forrest Gant

Posted

Jamie Forrest Gant of Adamsville, TN passed away peacefully at home with his family by his
side on October 2, 2025.

Forrest was born on March 28, 1939, in Savannah, Tennessee.

Forrest graduated from Adamsville High School in 1957 and moved to Memphis where he resided until 2004. He worked at Memphis Light Gas and Water in Customer Service for 38 years.

For his retirement years he wanted to move back to his hometown where he lived next to his sisters and enjoyed farming life. When he was not hoeing his garden, picking peas or riding on his tractor, you could find him on the river trying to catch the “big one” with his fishing
buddies.

Forrest was a devoted husband, father, papaw, brother and friend. He loved his family and
friends to the fullest, but even above that, he loved his Lord and Savior most of all. He will be
remembered for his outgoing spirit, his love for people, his fun nature and his kind heart. He never met a stranger and was a blessing to everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Marie “Barnie” Gant and their children: Kim Van
Frank (Brad), Karen Martin (Jeff) and Kristie Rash (Rob); seven grandchildren, Logan Van Frank, Landon Van Frank, Jeffery Martin, Lane Martin, Erin Martin, Hayden Rash and Grayson Rash; and two great-grandchildren, Jeffery and Josephine. He also leaves behind two loving
siblings, Naoma Feathers and Joe Gant (Betty).

Forrest is preceded in death by his parents Aubrey Johnson Gant and Ada Alma Gant, his brother
Kenneth Wayne Gant and his sister Mildred Churchwell.

As Forrest had family and friends in Memphis and Adamsville, we will have a visitation and
funeral service on October 9th at Sharon Baptist Church in Savannah, TN. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm with the service to be held at 12pm.

A second visitation will be held on October 10th from 9am-11am at Forest Hill East on Whitten Road in Memphis, TN followed by a few
words at the graveside at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sharon Baptist Church in Savannah, TN.
