James Massengill James Wayne (Senor) Massengill, 80, of Adamsville, died Sunday, Sept. 12, in Adamsville. He was born in McNairy County, son of the late Layfatte and Artie Martin Massengill. He was first united in marriage to Ader Black, who preceded him in death. He was later united in marriage to Ruth Stanfield, who survives. Mr. Massengill was a commercial driver for Gulf Transport. He also worked for McNairy County as a deputy sheriff and for the city of Adamsville as a police officer. He was a member of the House of Prayer Pentecostal Church. Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Adamsville with Tommy Grisham officiating. Burial was in Mars Hill Cemetery. In addition to his wife, Ruth of Adamsville, he is survived by a step-daughter, Sherry McCurdy of Hermitage, Tenn.; two step-sons, Gary Creasy of Hermitage, Tenn. and Tommy Grisham of Savannah; five step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Massengill of Whiteville, Tenn.
