James Burns

James Edward Burns, 55, of Savannah, died Saturday, Aug. 27.

He was the son of the late Floyd and JoAnn Weatherspoon. He was united in marriage to Margaret Burns, who survives.

Mr. Burns had worked for Bob and Kathy Smith Construction for 21 years. He was a member of Love Tabernacle Church in Savannah.

Services were held on Saturday, Sept. 3, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Rev. Charles Burns officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.

In addition to his wife, Margaret, he is survived by four daughters, Titania Heard, Felicia Gaieher, Kendra Jordan, all of Marietta, Ga., Nicole Wallace of Nashville; a son, Tracy Brumley of Owensboro, Ky.; six grandchildren, Aniq Heard of Nashville, Breaun Heard and Keeden Crockett of Marietta, Ga., Trayshaun Wallace, Alveto Higgins Jr., Sammarra Brumley; five sisters, Dorothy A. Alexander, Sherian D. Hartnest, Kimberly G. Weatherspoon, all of Savannah Elizabeth A. McCoy of Tupelo, Miss. and Catina Y. Weatherspoon of Savannah; four brothers, Floyd E. of Queens, N.Y., Steve N. of Savannah, Victor of Dallas, Texas and Galvin Weatherspoon of Indianapolis, Ind.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Mamie Burns, Nex and Lennie Weatherspoon; a sister, Shirley Ohiri; a daughter, Margaretta Wallace.
