James D. Bevis, 81, of Florence, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Visitation was Thursday, Sept. 27, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at Old Macedonia Church of Christ.  The service was Friday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m., at Old Macedonia Church of Christ with Sonny Hargett and James Senn officiating.

James was a native of Lauderdale County and was a member of Old Macedonia Church of Christ. He was the proud owner of Savannah Glass Company, Inc. since 1962 to the present time. He was a big Alabama football fan.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Benson Bevis; infant son, and parents, Virgil and Maymie Bevis; and sister, Elaine Hill.

He is survived by son, Sidney Bevis (Susan); daughter, Tracy Murphy (Mark); grandchildren, Alicia Durham (Daniel), Jenny Burchell(Eddie), Michelle Gasque (Lance), Brandon and Dylan Murphy; great-grandchildren Logan and Hunter Durham, Avery Burchell; brother, Don Bevis (Marie); sisters, Faye Martin, Shirley Swicegood (Gerald); sister-n-law, Shirley Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Larry Hill, Greg Hill, Billy Hanback, Gene Purdy, David Pickens and Keith May.

Honorary pallbearers were Rod Balentine, Bobby Balentine, Bill Butler, the late Lloyd Smith and Aaron Micheal.
