Hugh Blackwelder (12-9-13) service 12-12-13

Hugh Wadkins Blackwelder, 92, died on Tuesday, Dec. 9. He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Tone E. and Daisy Meadows Blackwelder. He was united in marriage to Ina Kate Cagle, who preceded him in death.

He was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church.

Mr. Blackwelder is survived by a daughter, Jennie Blackwelder of Savannah; three brothers, James Parker (Peck) Blackwelder, J.E. (Tuff) Blackwelder and Dan Blackwelder; and a sister, Margaret Northcutt.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Vaughn T. Blackwelder, Bert Blackwelder, Burnace Blackwelder and Tommy Blackwelder; and two sisters, Imogene Polk and Sarah Evans.

Services were held on Thursday, Dec. 12 in Savannah with Johnny Burns and Tony Polk officiating. Burial followed at New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Savannah.
