Herschel Conaway Herschel Conaway, 81, of Adamsville, died Saturday, May 14, in Adamsville. He was born in Sardis, the son of the late Jess J. and Maude Godwin Conaway. Mr. Conaway was retired from Parris Manufacturing Company in Savannah, where he served as a machine shop supervisor for 46 years. He had formerly served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Hinkle Baptist Church. Services were held on Tuesday, May 17, at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Savannah with Scott Melson and Steven Moore officiating. Burial with military honors followed in the Shady Grove Cemetery at Saltillo. He is survived by two sons, Richard Conaway of Summerville, S.C. and Don Conaway of Adamsville; two daughters, Diane Thompson of Savannah and Cindy Conaway of Spring Hill, Tenn.; six grandchildren; a sister, Betty Sue Hensley of Saltillo. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jess J. Conaway Jr.
