Helen Lott
Helen Vernell Lott was born on Jan. 14, 1935, in Sardis, Tenn., the daughter of William Oid and Ada Iris Crawford Davis, who preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Hugh Ray Lott on April 25, 1953, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 2009.
Mrs. Helen lived in Henderson County in Sardis, Tenn., Chester County in Henderson, Tenn., and Hardin County in Adamsville. She worked as a seamstress for Oakley Fashion of Jackson, Tenn., and also for Brown Shoe Company in Savannah. She loved all types of needlework including sewing and quilting. She also loved gardening and arranging flowers.
Mrs. Helen departed this life on Thursday, March 21, at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 7 days.
She is survived by three daughters, Glenda Cardwell of Adamsville, Sandra Holt of Saltillo and Teresa Willis of Henderson, Tenn.; one brother, Jerold Davis of Memphis; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Helen also leaves a very special friend to her, John Wilkerson, longtime close friends, Rhonda and Floyd Holmes, and the special Dr. Michael Smelser who was with until the end.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley McNeva Davis Johnson and one brother, Hershel Lee Davis.
Services were held on Monday, March 25, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Gene Hanna officiating. Burial followed in the Milledgeville Cemetery at Milledgeville.
