Helen Franks Cherry (3-10-19) service 3-13-19

Helen Franks Cherry, 73, of Savannah, died on Sunday, March 10, in Memphis.

She was born in Hardin County,  the daughter of the late John Hardin and Carrie Hazel Wilkerson Franks. She was united in marriage to Bobby Joe Cherry, who survives.

Mrs. Cherry was a retired seamstress. She worked for Garan Manufacturing and McNairy Shirt Works as well as other local factories. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Bobby Joe of Savannah, she is survived by her children, Pamela Cherry Everett of Brandon, Mississippi and Rebecca Cherry Avent of Whiteville, Tennessee; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Lynn Cherry; one stepson, Paul Cherry; and two sisters, Martha Morris and Mary Ann Bryant.

Services were held on Wednesday, March 13, at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah with Clark Culver officiating. Burial followed in Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
