Hazel Hill Mrs. Hazel E. Young Hill, 85, of Waterloo, passed away Tuesday, May 18, at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah, after an extended illness. She was a native and life-long resident of Lauderdale County and a dedicated member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Waterloo, Ala. Mrs. Hill worked many years as a skilled upholsterer in family-owned furniture manufacturing businesses. Mamaw Hill enjoyed singing songs on her front porch alone or with anyone who cared to join in. She loved to read her Bible daily and write in her journal. She had a passion for cooking and gardening with the best beans and cornbread around. Everyone felt welcomed and at home with Mamaw Hill. Above all else, she loved the Lord and was "Mama" to many. The funeral service was held on Saturday, May 22, at the Lighthouse Apostolic Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Holloway Jr. and the Rev. Dan Hicks officiating. Burial was in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Hill, parents, Owen B. and Rosie Mann Young, five sons, J.E. "Junior", Bobby, Dan, Dale, and Gary Hill and a grandson, Ricky Wayne Hill. She is survived by a son, Billy Hill (Tina) of Florence, two daughters, Patricia Bailey (Dickie) of Lutts, Tenn. and Kathy McFall of Florence, brother, Bart Young of Waterloo, 16 grandchildren: Renee and Kim Hill, Melissa Burgett, Bill, Josh, Caleb, Tosha, Daniel, and DeAnna Hill, Krystal McFall, Joanie Haddock, Melanie Cromwell, Emily and Chelsea Bailey, Rocky and Nicole McFall; 17 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. Grandsons served as pallbearers. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Savannah Health Care and Dr. Peters. Arrangements by Greenview Funeral Home.
