Hassel Pickens

Hassel Pickens, 84, of Savannah, died Saturday, March 17, in Savannah.

He was born in Hardin County, the son of the late Bid and Etta Mae Mitchell Pickens. He was united in marriage to Gracie Jane Austin, who survives.

Mr. Pickens retired from River House Lumber Company. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Soul’s Harvest Church of God.

Services were held on Monday, March 19, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Bobby Pickens officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.

In addition to his wife, Gracie Jane Pickens of Savannah, he is survived by two sons, Wayne and Bobby Pickens, both of Savannah; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lige of Savannah and Melvin Pickens of Hammond, Ind.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ross, J.C. and Curtis Pickens.
