Guymon Davis

Guymon Davis was born in Hardin County, on Jan. 27, 1935, the son of Laura Hazel Haggard Davis and the late Newt Wallace Davis.

On Nov. 7, 1953, he was united in marriage to Freeda Flurry, who survives.

Mr. Davis was a funeral director for 17 years for Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah. He was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Davis was a member of First Baptist Church in Savannah. He enjoyed the years of helping families while working for Shackelford’s. He also had a great love for gospel and bluegrass music, and for camping, too.

Mr. Davis departed this life on Tuesday, May 11, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis, at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 14 days.

In addition to his wife, Freeda of Savannah, he is survived by one daughter, Debbie Dockery and her husband David of Savannah; one grandson, Dalton Dockery of Savannah; his mother, Hazel Davis of Savannah.

Services were held on Thursday, May 13, at 3 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Eric Jones, Stephen Childers officiating. Burial was in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.
