Gracie Pickens (7-18-12) service 7-21-12

Gracie Jane Austin Pickens, 81, of Savannah, died Wednesday, July 18.

She was born in Hardin County, the daughter of the late James Harve and Gladys Gibbs Austin. She was united in marriage to Hassell Pickens, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Pickens had worked in the finishing department at Savannah Manufacturing. She was also a member at Souls Harvest Church of God.

Services were held on Saturday, July 21, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with Bobby Pickens, Jonathan Pickens officiating. Burial followed in the Memory Gardens at Savannah.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Pickens and Wayne Pickens, both of Savannah; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Frankie Baugus of Savannah, and a niece whom she thought of as a daughter, Francis (Elsie) Crum of Humboldt, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Hermon Austin; sisters, Dorothy Smith, Corene Baugus and Ruth Copeland.
