Gerald Douglas Caperton, 59, of Savannah, died Friday, Aug. 15, in Jackson, Tenn.
He was born in Hardin County, the son of Josephine Morgan Caperton and the late Douglas Caperton.
Mr. Caperton worked as a supervisor in cooking at CCA in Clifton for 13 years and was minister of Russell’s Chapel Church in Savannah. He was an ordained minister in the Southern Baptist Association.
He is survived by his children, Robert Caperton of San Diego, Calif., Holly Smith of Savannah and Shawn Caperton of Collinwood, Tenn.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Becky Matlock and Lesia Caperton, both of Savannah; his mother, Josephine Morgan Caperton of Savannah; and his fianceé, Linda Childers of Tupelo, Miss.
Services were held on Sunday, Aug. 17, at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah with David Dowdy officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
