Freda Nixon Freda Ann Newman Nixon was born in Morris Chapel on April 29, 1934, the daughter of the late George Odell and Ruthie Haynes Newman. On July 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Allen Lafayette Nixon, who preceded his wife in death on May 14, 1997. Mrs. Nixon retired from Wal-Mart. She also had worked for Martin’s Supermarkets in South Bend, Ind. She departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 20, in Knoxville, at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 22 days. Mrs. Nixon is survived by two sons, Larry A. Nixon and his wife Harriett of North Liberty, Ind., and Jud Nixon and his wife Sue of Knoxville; seven grandchildren, Kenneth Klockow, David Klockow, Kimberly Bostic, Charles Klockow, Edward Nixon, Cody Nixon and Amy Quick; 20 great grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters; one brother, Carl H. Newman and his wife Pauline of New Iberia, La.; and one sister-in-law, Marietta Newman of Lago Vista, Texas. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Randall Justin Nixon and Alecia Penner, one sister, Lavelle Newman Holley; and two brothers, James A. Newman and Charles Ray Newman. Services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m., at Shackelford Chapel in Savannah, with Dennis Moffett officiating. Burial was in the Milledgeville Cemetery at Milledgeville.
