Frank Shepherd was born in Montgomery, Tennessee, on July 23, 1929, the son of the late Howard and Mary Shepherd.

On Sept. 1, 1950, he was united in marriage to Mary Irby, who preceded her husband in death on April 5, 1994. On Nov. 26, 1996, Frank was united in marriage to Glenda Alexander, who survives.

Frank served his country in the United States Army/Air Force.  After serving in the military he worked as an engineer for Preston Carroll Construction Company and also for John D. Stephens Construction Company. Frank was a member of the Savannah Church of Christ, where he stayed very active with the youth group and was a strong supporter in the growth of the church.  He also remained active with John D. Stephens Construction Company.  Frank was a strong contributor to the Wounded Warriors of America and to Freed-Hardeman University.

He departed this life on Friday, Jan. 18, in Savannah, at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 26 days.

In addition to his wife of 22 years, Glenda, he is survived by his daughter, Susan Jerrolds of Savannah; and two grandchildren, Christopher King and Sydne Grimes.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Mary Shepherd, his first wife, Mary Irby Shepherd and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hightower Irby, one son, Frank Steven Shepherd, and three sisters, Mildred Logue, Anita Blackwell and Corrine Shepherd.

Services were held on Monday, Jan. 21, at 11 a.m., at Savannah Church of Christ in Savannah with Barry Binion, Howard Rogers, Christopher King, Clyde Carroll and John D. Stephens officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens at Savannah.
