Frances Neill Locke, age 91, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 1.
She was born in Hardin County to the late Mary (Hosey) Neill and Ulvie Neill on April 27, 1924.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roy Neill.
Survivors include her husband, Lauren and three nieces: Jane Barcomb (Paul), Gwenda Brown (Dwight) and Teresa Hart (Rex) of Alabama.
Frances graduated from high school in 1944 and married Lauren Adelbert Locke on Aug. 11, 1945. Frances worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Savannah until their only child, Judy, was born in December 1948. She taught piano lessons and also did substitute teaching, as she lovingly cared for Judy, their invalid daughter for 63 years, and helped Lauren by doing secretarial work as he taught school, pastored churches and served as treasurer for Shiloh Baptist Association. Frances enjoyed crocheting and blessed many people with her beautiful creations of baby blankets, table cloths and bedspreads. She also enjoyed sewing and made quilts and clothing for family and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to Southside Baptist Church Missons or St. Jude Hospital in Memphis.
Services were held on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 11 a.m., at Southside Baptist Church in Savannah with Benny Taylor officiating. Burial followed in Neill Cemetery at Savannah.
