F. Bruce Alexander F. Bruce Alexander was born on June 10, 1924, to the late Edwin Nelson and Addie Duckworth Alexander. On Feb. 3, 1991, he married Maxine Qualls Fondren, who preceded him in death, on Nov. 4, 2008. Bruce served his country in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945. He lived for 18 years in Jackson, Tenn. He worked for 30 years as an insurance salesman and worked for 15 years for the Woodmen of the World Insurance Company. Bruce was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church. He was a Gideon and also a Shriner. He enjoyed walking and participated in Walk Across Tennessee and he faithfully walked at Bodies in Motion. Bruce never met a stranger in his lifetime. He enjoyed being with people. Bruce departed this life on Wednesday, Oct.10, at 88 years and 4 months old. He is survived by two sisters, Ella Alexander Phillips and Helen Alexander Shelby, and one brother, Jim L. Alexander all of Savannah. Preceding Bruce in death, besides his wife and parents, were one sister, Irene Alexander Polk; and one brother, Edwin R. Alexander. Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m., at New Harmony Baptist Church in Savannah with Johnny Burns, James Shutt officiating. Burial followed in the New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery at Savannah.
